EMMAS DESIGNBLOGG

Design and style from a Scandinavian perspective

Stylist Cia Wedin

Swedish design journalist and interior stylist Cia Wedin's work has been seen in Elle Interiör for several years now, but if you don't have access to the magazine, you can now visit her website where you can browse some of her work. Cia has also been published in RUM, international issues of Elle Decoration, Residence, Marie Claire Maison and Selvedge, and has worked with many of Sweden's top photographers like Stellan Herner, Anna Kern and Patric Johansson, so she is by no means a newbie in the area, it's just that she hasn't had very much of an online presence before, so hopefully I can show you some pics you haven't already seen before. Enjoy!

New from Guts

I found some new photos in the portfolio of Guts, and I just thought I'd share them with you!
Have a nice weekend!

Guts, a new Swedish stylist

While reading Frida's blog Trendenser I found this new Swedish stylist and her company Guts. Love the name! It refers both to that gut feeling in your stomach when you just know that something is right, and guts as in courage. Her name is Louise Svensson, and her portfolio looks like it could be start of something great! She uses lots of black and white, graphic patterns and signs, raw wood and industrial and vintage details, all things that I love! I chose some favorites to show you here, but there are lots more in her portfolio.

Lotta Agaton moves to Elle Interiör

Swedish top interior stylist Lotta Agaton was one of the persons who started deco magazine Residence ten years ago, and when she quit her job as an editor there she continued to do freelance styling jobs for the mag. But now she switched over to Elle Interiör, and this is her first feature for them, shot by Pia Ulin. I love Lotta's style, and I'm happy she started working for Elle instead, as that is one of the magazines I subscribe to, so now I'm not going to miss any of her great work!

And guess what? I'm going to be assisting Lotta on a job she is doing next week! I'm so happy to have been given the opportunity to see how she works, and hopefully I can pick up a few stylish tips and tricks from her.

Stylist Gitte Kjær

Danish interior stylist Gitte Kjær's work is often featured in one of my favorite interior design mags; RUM. The shots styled by Gitte always stands out in the magazine and I could easily let her decorate my whole house! Her work has that special mix of industrial, raw and modern with vintage and natural wood that I love so much.

More from Susanna Vento

Happy weekend to you all! I hope you will have a lovely one!

This is some more of stylist Susanna Vento's work, enjoy!

Open space living by Susanna Vento

Minimalist black and white living/diningroom/kitchen by Finnish stylist Susanna Vento, photo by Mirva Kakko. Notice the pattern in the painting reoccurring in the splash back over the kitchen counters. This makes me want a black wall! Oh, and the sofa, does anyone know where it's from? Or the dining table and benches? I've been looking for benches like that forever!

Stylist Katarina Grundströmer

There is a new star in the Swedish stylist scene, her name is Katarina Grundströmer. She is by no means a newbie in this business though, having worked as an interior stylist for many years all over Europe. Now she is back in her native Sweden, and as soon as I saw her home in an issue of Residence I knew she will soon be one of the big names here! Katarina doesn't have a homepage yet, but she writes about decorating and design for a site called trevlighelg.se, so if you want to know more about her style and read her thoughts on the latest trends you can click over there. It's in Swedish, but there is always google translate to help you.

I emailed Katarina and she sent me the pictures of her Stockholm apartment, and also told me her new homepage will be ready in a month or so, so hopefully I will be able to post some of her work here later!

Stylist Jimmy Schönning for Åhléns

I met Jimmy Schönning last spring on a trip to Portugal, and found him to be a very fun, inspiring person to hang out with. He has such a positive and sparkly personality, always pointing out the beauty of the surroundings, you just can't be down when he is around! For the last months he's had a project with Swedish department store Åhléns, styling up themes to go with the seasons. Now he has done a wonderful Spring theme called Växtkraft (=growing power), full of plants, green details, fresh flower prints and natural materials such as wood, metal and leather. Do you like it? Does it give you ideas for what to fill your home with now that the holiday decor is gone?

Stylist Stella Nicolaisen

Today I want to give you the link to interior stylist Stella Nicolaisen's portfolio and a peek at the photos I like best. I love the white painted carafe in the third picture, so much cooler than a plain glass one!

Ps. Remember this post, where I saw a vintage highchair I loved, and thought I'd have to search forever for one? Well, now I have one, just like the one in the pic! Someone was giving one away, for FREE on Blocket, the Swedish equivalent to Craig's list! Can you belive the luck?! Lo is still too small to sit in it, but in a month or so I hope she will be just as happy about it as I am.

Stylist Sibella Court 2

I just have to write another post on Sibella Court, because I found her own website (the other pics were from her agent's site) called The Society Inc and it is awesome! Awesome I tell you! It is probably the most inspiring site I have seen this year, and trust me, I've seen a lot of websites... Besides the beautiful design, there is so much material on there, divided into sections of different themes (=styles), with colour charts, styling tips, suggestions for materials you can use to achieve the styles you see, downloadable pdf's etc etc. Add to that hundreds of wonderful photos, inspiring texts and you have a small clue, but you really have to check it out for yourself!

It seems Sibella isn't just an amazing interior stylist, she also does mural painting, wedding design, product development and graphic design. I'm overwhelmed. What a talented and energetic woman she must be!

Sibella also has a brand new book out called Etcetera: Creating Beautiful Interiors with the Things You Love, available directly from her or from Amazon. As if that wasn't enough, my Australian readers can actually visit Sibella's own shop in Paddington! Apparently she changes the whole interior of the store 4 times a year, using the different themes you can see on her site, so I'm guessing (and hoping) there will be more themes on there eventually.

The pictures I chose here are all from the two themes Foundations and Paper Whites. There are seven more themes on the site, and I'm sure you will all find your very own favourite.

Stylist Sibella Court

I found some beautiful X-mas styling by Australian interior stylist Sibella Court, and wanted to share...

Stylist Emma Thomas

Stylist and art director Emma Thomas has a big online portfolio with a long row of really stunning shots! She has worked for all the giants like Elle Decoration UK, Harrods, Living Etc, Habitat and Marie Claire and we can all see why...

And then there is this picture, in which the furniture and interiors aren't really my style at all, but I love the balloons coming in through the door like they want to join the party!

Superb styling by FriedaMaria

Dutch stylingduo FriedaMaria has some very inspirational pictures on their site!

White in white by Susanne Swegen

Norwegian interior stylist Susanne Swegen made this beautiful and serene series of white in white pictures, shot by photograph Trine Thorsen. I love the paintings with their backs turned in the fourth picture!

Stylist Sofie Andersson

Sorry, no eye candy this weekend. Instead I'd like to give you some pictures from stylist Sofie Andersson's portfolio that I hadn't seen before. Enjoy!

Stylist Jakob Solgren

Don't you wish you could just move straight into this apartment? Such a nice mix between modern design classics, like the copper ceiling light by Tom Dixon, the Marimekko fabric on the wall and the grey glass lamp from Muuto, and more anonymous pieces in neutral colors. It is styled by Jakob Solgren, you can browse his portfolio here.

Interior design firm Hand Lyon

I saw this amazing apartment, decorated by French interior design firm Hand, on one of my favourite blogs, The Style Files, and just had to share it with you.

Stylist Pernilla Åsberg

I just wanted to show you these two pics from stylist Pernilla Åsberg's portfolio.

Stylist Jimmy Schönning

One of the other bloggers that joined me on the trip to Lissabon was Jimmy Schönning. Jimmy is probably one of the most famous stylists in Sweden, mostly due to the popular tv show Äntligen Hemma where he has participated in makeovers of people's homes for several years now. He also works for all the big Swedish decorating mags, like Allt i Hemmet, Sköna Hem and Elle Interiör.

It was so nice meeting Jimmy, he is such a bubbly and inspiring person! And when meeting him I got to find out that he also has two blogs, which I somehow totally missed before. You can find the Swedish blog here and the English blog here.

Since Jimmy is a professional decorator, his home is of course super stylish, so I got Jimmy's permission to invite you all into his apartment in Stockholm. Enjoy!
