EMMAS DESIGNBLOGG

Design and style from a Scandinavian perspective

Photographer Marjon Hoogervorst

If you have been following blogs for a while, I'm sure you have heard of Dutch photographer Marjon Hoogervorst. She works a lot with interior stylist Anouk B, but also shoots for Bloesem and Est magazine, and of course for print magazines. Marjon just published a newsletter with pictures from her features for sale, so if you are a magazine looking for content, just check it out here. What you perhaps didn't know is that she recently opened a  webshop, selling her own graphic prints. I think they are fab!

Below is a selection of images from the newsletter, the first and last are styled by Anouk B, and the others are home visits. What I love about all of these pictures is the relaxed feel, a little imperfection teamed with simplicity and honest materials really does it for me. How about you?

Two weeks 'til Advent

I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in Scandinavia we have a long run-up to Christmas, celebrating Advent every sunday in December. It's nothing big, we just light candles and perhaps have some glögg and gingerbread cookies, but it's very cozy. And I just realized today that it's only two weeks until the first Advent sunday. So perhaps it's time to start posting some Christmas inspiration? I'm starting softly with these pictures by German photographer Gudrun Arndt. Enjoy!

Photographer Marcus Lawett

Today I want to lead you to the portfolio of Swedish photographer Marcus Lawett. I have shown some of his work before; here and here but I'm happy to say that there is so much more great stuff on his site! He has worked for all the big Swedish deco mags and some abroad as well, like VT Wonen and Elle Decoration.

These are a few of my favorites, enjoy!

Photographer Arjan Benning

Today I'm loving the work of Dutch photographer Arjan Benning. I like the "over sharpened" look in some of the photos, and the light, simplicity and textures of others.

New work by Pia Ulin + web designer wanted

I just saw an update on Lotta Agaton's blog that she had styled some new pictures for her shop, shot by Pia Ulin. And when I clicked over to Pia's site, there were more new beautiful photos there. I'm showing some of them here, but click over there yourselves to see more.

In other news, I am looking for a web designer for a new project. You would need to have a good knowledge of Wordpress, be a great graphic designer and have your base in Stockholm. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, please contact me at emmasdesignblogg@gmail.com.

I don't know who styled the first photo below, but the last pic is styled by Cilla Ramnek and the rest by Lotta Agaton.

Photographer Heidi Lerkenfeldt

Some greatness from the portfolio of Danish photographer Heidi Lerkenfeldt. Enjoy!

Arresting summer photos

Danish photographer Diana Lovring teamed up with interior stylist Sanne Korsholm to shoot these wonderful, summery photos in an old police lockup. I love the light and the colours and the unexpected addition of the snails, an uninvited summer guest in our gardens, but in this case quite beautiful.
You can see more photos from this shoot on the creators' sites, here and here.

Summer feelings by Stellan Herner

While we are still waiting for summer to make an appearance between the heavy rain and cold winds, I found some inspiring summer photos, mostly old favorites, by Swedish photographer Stellan Herner.

News from photographer Per Gunnarsson

I am sure you are all familiar with the name Per Gunnarsson by now, as he is one of the photographers often hired by Norwegian IKEA Livet Hjemme. I have showed his pictures here several times before, but since he just updated his portfolio I think it is time for a new post! Here is some of his latest work. Enjoy!

Photographer Björn Lofterud

Swedish photographer Björn Lofterud just updated his portfolio. Below are my favorites. Enjoy!

Interior stills by photographer Thomas Popinger

Photographer Anders Gramer

As I was chatting with interior stylist Tina Hellberg today, she mentioned a new to me photographer named Anders Gramer. I had to check him out of course, and found some very inspiring shots in his portfolio that I'd like to share with you!

Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen's portfolio

I found some more amazing photographs by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen when I looked through his portfolio. I met Jonas at the Furniture Fair and he told me that the site hasn't been officially launched yet, it's still in beta mode, but it looks great, so I thought I could share it here anyway! You can really see his love for materials and all their different textures shining through in each of these photos.

Photographer Jérôme Galland

Today I'm loving these photos from the portfolio of French photographer Jérôme Galland, found via AnoukB's fb page.

Tasty Hotels, a site by photographer Alex Profit

French photographer Alex Profit contacted me to tell me about his new site, Tasty Hotels, where he shows photos from beautiful bed & breakfast, hotels and vacation apartments/houses where he has stayed. The different places are sorted by country, so if you are looking for a nice place to stay on your vacation, it's easy to find some great choices here.
Also, don't miss his professional portfolio here.

The home of photographer Fred van 't Slot

I received an email today with some pictures attached that convinced me it was time to blog again! The email came from Dutch fashion photographer Fred van 't Slot and showed pictures that his friend Jansje Klazinga had taken of Fred's home, an old school building in Haarlem. I love the enormous windows and high ceilings, this is the kind of building I hope to live in one day.

The interiors have that wonderful Dutch look, achieved by mixing styles in a wild and seemingly casual way, and the final touch is the giant light over the kitchen island, made of a whole bunch of old lamp shades in different patterns. I think that is a trademark in Dutch design, their talent for taking something old and traditional and making it into something very fresh and modern!

New pics from Pia Ulin

Amazing photographer Pia Ulin just updated her site, go check it out!

Photographer Magnus Anesund

Today I'd like to introduce you to Swedish photographer Magnus Anesund, who's work is often shown in Elle Interiör.
If you'd like to see a little of his older photos, check out this post that I made on Magnus two years ago.

Ps. If you think that the posts here are too few and far apart, come visit me over at Facebook where Emmas Designblogg has it's own page where I post a lot more often!

Photographer Nicolas Mathéus

French photographer Nicolas Mathéus work a lot for Marie Claire Maison, so perhaps some of you have seen his photos before. I picked my favorites from his portfolio, the ones I think are worth a second watch. I hope you like them!

And I'm sad to say this, but I simply do not have time to answer all your emails. I try, but you are so many, and I am only one person... Sometimes I wish I could clone myself, but until that is possible, please understand that I try my best, and I read all of your emails, but all of you might not get a reply.

To make things easier for all of us, here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions:
* For all of you requesting info on Stockholm I can gladden you with the fact that I'm working on a new, updated Stockholm Guide with my favorite places in time for the tourist season, but outside of that I'm not giving any tips on the city.
* For those of you asking for info on a piece of furniture or art in a picture I posted, I'm sorry, but I have no clue.
* And for those who are asking for link exchanges, I just don't do that. The blogs in my blogroll are the ones I love and don't want to live without, and asking isn't going to include your blog on that list.

That was about it, let's watch some nice photos instead!

Photographer Mai Linh

I found photographer Mai Linh today and wanted to share. I realized I had posted some of her photos before, but only credited them to Marie Claire Maison, a French magazine that uses her work a lot. Now I got to browse her entire portfolio and found some new favorites! Check out the bath tub in the last pic, have you ever seen anything like it?

In other news, there won't be any more Wednesday Weirdness here because Janos doesn't have time to write the posts any more. I'm sad to see him go, but perhaps I can find a new guest blogger in the future... Anyone up for the task?
