Design and style from a Scandinavian perspective

Thursday Tip: Photo Print by Therese Sennerholt

I believe you are all familiar with the graphic prints from Therese Sennerholt, visualizing fun quotes and inspiring messages. Today Therese launched this great photo print, an exciting new direction for her, and I'm curious to see what comes next!

The photo is seen here in Therese's own super stylish home, you can see the rest of it here.

One Pic Wednesday: Green Christmas

I love this Christmas styling with the disco ball, silver bulbs, glittering drums and cool skulls. And Annaleena's diamond, of course. Quite untraditional, but that is how I like my holidays. Great idea with the bulbs hung on the green wall behind the tree too!

Rebecca Centrén lives here!

Fashion blogger Rebecca Centrén just moved to a big new house, and I find lots of inspiration following the decorating process on her blog. Raw and rough materials are mixed with more refined furniture and lighting in marble, copper and leather, both from highstreet stores and more exclusive designers. It is extremely trendy, she checks all the boxes of this year's biggest deco trends (think concrete, copper, marble, neon lights, brown leather, plywood etc), but one has to admit it looks great.

Found via Plaza Interiör, with thanks

Weekend Fashion Inspiration - We Are Islanders

I know, this is a blog about about interiors and design, but once in a while I stumble over something so amazing I just have to share it here even if it isn't exactly deco related... This is one of those times. We Are Islanders is a new Irish fashion label, using traditional Irish fabrics such as Beetle finished Wexford Linen and Tipperary Wool, mixing them with sustainable materials like Bamboo Silk and Salmon Leather Skin, and creating something completely new.

While I totally love the designs and prints of their garments, and the great looking images, what really stands out is the way these prints were made. You see, they are dyed by the tidal water on the Dublin coast line! Below is a video of how this was done.

Eva Lilja Löwenhielm + Fantastic Frank

Ok, I'm in a big rush and should be heading out the door for a lunch meeting with photographer Mikael Axelsson. But I just have to show you this first! Real estate company Fantastic Frank has teamed up with designer Eva Lilja Löwenhielm to decorate a house with (mostly) her products, and the result is amazing! I love this! Clean lines, simplicity, lots of air and space, and somehow the sum of all these modern design pieces feels very personal and fresh. See it all here.

Dark wall inspiration from Tommaso Sartori

The latest buzz in the Scandinavian design blog crowd is dark walls. It started already at the beginning of the year, but the real breakthrough must have been some weeks ago when the queen of white walls, Lotta Agaton, painted her entire shop/studio in dark hues. I love this look, but it's not for my home which is already way too dark even with white walls. I think you need a lot of daylight to keep dark painted rooms from feeling like you are living in a cave.

These pictures from Tommaso Sartori Studio show lots of great examples of spaces where this look absolutely works!

Broste Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Did you see the new pictures from Broste's coming SS2014 collection? I haven't seen them around the bloggosphere yet, but perhaps I just missed them? Anyway, I wanted to share these amazing pictures that stylist Nathalie Schwer and photographer Line Klein created for the catalogue. Very experimental, and super pretty!

A Francophile collector's home in Copenhagen

How about some home interior images for a change? I feel like there has been way too much products on the blog lately, and I miss the amazing home features. Perhaps you do too?

These pictures are from a Danish home filled with French antiques mixed with Scandinavian design classics. The owner often travels to Paris and fills his bags with vintage finds from the French brocantes to make wonderful still lifes in his airy Copenhagen flat. See more of his collections in the full article here.

Marimekko Holiday Inspiration

While we are on the subject of Marimekko, I'd like to announce our collaboration for the holidays! I have been invited to contribute to the Marimekko Village site to share my thoughts, tips and inspiration regarding the coming holidays. So almost every week from now until Christmas, there will be a new story from me, with a couple of pictures too.

I set up the still lifes for the pictures in the studio of photographer Patric Johansson, on his beautiful concrete floor, as I figured this would make a nice backdrop. I was a little nervous before I started, wondering how the mix of my toned down monochrome style would look together with Marimekko's colorful and graphic products. Turns out, they worked just fine together! Or what do you think?
