Giveaway: Kay Bojesen wooden animal!

To start off this new season here on the blog in a great way, I'm hosting a giveaway sponsored by Rosendahl. The prize is a wooden animal by Kay Bojesen! I'm sure you have all seen the monkey as it's a great design classic, but have you seen the new members of the family; a hippo, rabbit and dachshund in oak and walnut? They were all created by Bojesen between 1935 and 1957 but they have just been re-released this year.

To win one of the animals you just have to leave a comment here telling me which Bojesen animal is your favourite and how or where would you decorate with it? A winner will be chosen by a representative for Rosendahl Friday 19/8.

I love love love Kay's little wooden animals. My son has the elefant and an old antique zebra in his room. I would love to have the new hipo, it's beautiful!! It should live in my Display Me Box from Hay in our livingroom, so I can look at it every day!

    Have a great day!!

I love the rabbit. I have recently moved into a new apartment with my girlfriend and we are creating a small zoo. We already have a monkey, a pig... Kay Bojesen's rabbit is definitely the missing piece of our collection.

The bunny is so cute! I am coming up on my 15th wedding anniversary and my husband's pet name for me is "bunny" and has been for all our marriage. I would give it to my husband for our anniversary and insist that he put it on the mantel to put a little bit more of a femenine vibe in the house; we have 4 boys ranging in age from 3 to 11.

My true favorite of all times is the classic Monkey. I am devoted to retro and vintage interior designs combined with middle century design classics. My living room for example has a big retro sideboard, and a watch on the wall that looks like a LP. Unfortunately i'm a poor student, so i can't afford this design classic, though it would fit perfect in my little apartment.

  • babs says:

I would give the monkey to my girlfriend and she could hang it on the birchtrees that are standing in our bedroom.

Hi! Monkey is a clasic but the dog is so funny. I love dogs, have one real.
So, this little dog will be for my grand-daughter. I had a Bojesen Monkey for playing when I was a child. I think it is important for kids to have good toys, smart designed and made from real materials, which means - it is more and more beautiful when it is more and more used.

My favourite is the elephant. I love wooden toys and Decorations mixed with the more modern interiors. I have a wall built up of white shelves from Bolia Logo system. You know the popular stack system you can build up yourself (Like montana, muuto and many others). I have an old wooden ape hanging from one of the shelves ( it has lost one of his arms, but is still beautiful), and now i would love to place the elephant in one of the other shelves. Placed assymetrically.

oh, how i love this! such a great idea. i would love to have the monkey, but not for me. my best friend is having a baby girl in a little over a month's time. and everyone should have a classic to grow up with. it could hang above her diaper changing table so she can have somehing sweet to look at (except for mom and dad, of course) and later on it will be her bookshelf companion, since i believe she will be a huge book lover (same as her mom & grandma). <3

My Mom gave me these when I was little and though I never "played" with them, they always seemed special and curiously different from everything else in my room. I loved looking at them and thinking about far away things. I still have my rabbit, bear & elephant but have always wanted the hippo or the dauschund!! They are inspiring, playful, and wonderfully ageless objects that respond joyfully to everything in my home.

I have been eyeing these monkeys for a while now. I call my boyfriend ”monkey” (with lots of love). My favourite Bojesen animal is the classic monkey. I’ve wanted to have one for years. If I actually won this I would, however, give it to my boyfriend to hang it on his bedroom ceiling light to remind him of me when I’m not there. Although I would be very tempted to keep the monkey myself and hang him on the water pipes that are visible in my hallway. The monkey would fit perfectly with the wall paper of big leaves, almost like a jungle. Hmmm…

I would keep this wonderful wooden elephant on my bookcase until I have children. Then, I would keep the elephant in my child's nursery and teach him or her to love elephants and help save them for future generations.

I'm having a hard time choosing between the hippo, elephant, and dog. They are all very cute! I'm currently in a place in life where we can't keep a dog as a pet, but that's all I want! The little dachshund might keep me satiated until we can have a real dog.

The elephant is my favourite! I do like the monkey as well but elephant it is :) I had one when I was little kid and her name was Elli and I took her everywhere with me! Going out, going sleep overs at friends house and even for a bath and I know now that wood toys and water don't mix that well but Elli didn't mind (I think) I don't know what happen to her (sorry Elli) somehow she got misplaced or lost. This time I would leave Elli home (might look odd if I would take her to work with me) and place her at the coffee table so I could see her all the time and make sure she won't go missing this time around.
    Thanks.

when i was a kid i had this obsession with monkeys. i've had several, some that i've lost, and others that i just forgot. however, i still got my favorites in my room. sadly, i've got them hidden in my closet. i'm 18, i'd like to have them visible in my room but i feel like i'm too old to have stuffed animals laying around.
obviously the bojesen monkey is my favorite, and i would put it where i would have put the ones i got. it would sit on my white bookshelf next to my books and games, or in my bed. i'd actually consider making my bed everyday just to do that. at least my mom would be happy. :ppp

Ok, and to make my final decision I would put in our new dining room. We would have a shelf where we would keep some of our posters.

The monkey is a classic, and has been on my wishlist for a while now :) his home is all picked out already too: I have an open concept apartment with a counter dividing the kitchen and living room - built in above are cupboards with double-sided glass panes so that you can see what's inside from all angles. It also gets some lovely afternoon sun - what more could the little guy need? :)

I love the monkey. I remember when I was growing up we used to spend the summers at this incredible cabin. The people who owned it were friends of my parents and the dad was an architect. It was on an island with a private beach and it was of course furnished with the most amazing mix of personal taste and classic danish design. I remember on the tv bench, next to the bang & olufsen speakers, sat a big wooden monkey, worn at the edges from being played with. It seems to me to be the perfect all around item in a family home - a toy that looks better the more it is played with :)

I think I would go for the rabbit, it kind of fits up here in the North of Norway since you can also find them in the wild. And I would decorate with it on the shelf above my bed together with a few good books just waiting to be read and a vintage lamp.

    Fingers crossed :)

I remember and love the monkey because my grandparents, ever the modernists, had 2 hanging from their teak shelves at their home in Toronto. Over the years my mom, her brother and sister, and my cousins all played with them. One of them suffered a broken ear, the other one lost his hand. My grandfather did the most horrendous job of repairing them (with completely mismatched wood) but I always thought it was charming that they both had these appendages. I wish I knew what happened to them! I would hang them on my bookshelf just like they always did.

I think the sausage dog. My girlfriend loves sausage dogs and I never used to like them. But every time we're out walking she says things like "ahhhh look at him" or "he's so cute, watch his ears when he runs". She sometimes makes me walk fast so that we can catch up with the poor defenseless guy (with tiny legs) so that we can stroke it for some time. So I pick the sausage dog because it reminds me of the fun we have when we go walking together.

Kay's monkey is so adorably cute and would so be the perfect friend for my adventurously spirited, 3 year old, who is a truly magical climb monkey at heart! : )

Thanks so very much for this fabulous give~away! : )

Oh - this is a very hard decision as they are all divine.
I think I would go with the Rabbit. It's the year of the Rabbit and it is my Chinese animal. He will sit on my desk where I work everyday so I can look at him whenever I need a break and have a smile.

    Fantastic competition! Thanks.

The elephant! it means happiness and it would definitely make me happy when standing wherever i want it to be. It would surely not just be standing at a desk or whatever as a decoration, I would keep it where I could see it smiling back at me.

    Hei Emma!

I've really fallen for the elephant. First time I saw it was in someone’s window where it stood with some other elephants watching people walking past. Just perfect. Every time I go past that house I look for it and hope it still there. It is!
A month ago, I tried to adopt one from the U.S., it was very old and had only three legs, it was the nicest one, but the seller wouldn't bother sending it to norway..buhu. I haven't stoped thinking about it.. :(
It would be so nice to have one in my window too, along with the old polar bear and the little owl that lives there now. Then they can all look out on people walking by, and I can watch them when I’m sitting next to them at my desk working on my drawings:)

I would choose the monkey, it's adorable and... such a great personality :)
I would like my kids to have the whole collection in the future, so they could develop their imagination, appreciate real things and learn to see true beauty. It's not no easy in pop-culture obsessed world!
