Elvis is a girl!

So there we went for nine months thinking the baby was going to be a boy, because that was what the two midwives at the ultrasound told us. We decided to name him Elvis. And when he came out, we realized that this Elvis was a girl!

That is the story of what happened when I gave birth to our beautiful baby daughter this last monday. She is now three days old and sleeping on my arm as I write this. We are all doing fine, but I'm not sure how much blogging I'll be doing in the closest future...

Same thing happened to me: was told in advance that it was a boy but turned out to be a beautiful girl. Congratulations! You are blessed. Girls are the best. :) I will miss your blog posts in the near term from my perch here in Chicago, USA, but anticipate them in the months to come. You are my touchstone to my Scandinavian heritage, believe it or not.

Mine was the reverse.. I was told a girl four out of five times (the fifth being an ultrasound an hour before i was to be induced), then it was a boy.

Hi there! I´m visiting your blog for the first time and I love it!!! So I realized you had just a daughter for three days! OMG and you´re still here writing!!! That´s amazing! I had my first child 7 years ago and I still remember the first days... :) So congratulations and all the best for both of you! Your story reminded me a similar situation when I was about 4 months pregnant: We thought we were having a girl, but then we were told we were going to have a boy, which was still awesome!

Congratulations!!! What a surprise! It must happen all the time -- I have personally known two people who were told one gender only to find out later it was not so, and I work in a hospital and have overheard two other new mothers telling people they were told the wrong gender!

I was perusing quickly Apartment Therapy with my coffee as I usually do before getting off to the rest of my day and came across a link to your blog where I happened to see this post. I have three Elvis'. That is to say it was the name my first, second, and third children were to be named but somehow the day they arrived they were not that name.
