Nursery inspiration

Ever since I got the + on the stick this winter, I've been thinking about how to decorate the nursery. We know it's going to be a boy (his name will be Carl Elvis Elton) but that doesn't really matter to me, I wouldn't have been painting the room either pink or blue anyway...
The room is tiny with a sloped ceiling, hardwood floors and the walls are going to be white. These are some of the pictures I have collected for inspiration, please tell me what you think!


Animals and cars will definitely be on display!


I have this poster by Elisabeth Dunker, and some vintage toy blocks that I'm planning to use.




A paper mobile or garland is on the "must have list"


A small wardobe is getting painted white any day now, and it will get fairy lights in some way on top of it.


I've bought an old sugar crate wich will be a perfect storage solution for toys or books.


I'm thinking of hanging a simple curtain in this Ikea fabric on a clothes hanger. It won't be heart shaped though.


This crib is awesome! However, ours will most likely be from Ikea if I can't find a nice vintage one before October.

    Åh, inspirationen ser superhärlig ut och namnet sen! :-) Jag anar ett "girlang-tema", med Elisabeths affisch, ikea-tyget och så förstås pappersvimplarna.. Själv gillar jag de gamla trälådorna! Måste ge mig ut på loppisjakt efter liknande lådor och matcha med hjul i lite mera färgglad high-tech stil till Olle-Brors rum som också är under uppbyggnad..



    Jag tror det blir superfint Emma!



    * PS, vilken spjälsäng! Man skulle ha obegränsat med tid och snickarkunskaper så kanske man skulle kunna få till något liknade ur en mdf-skiva... ;-)

    Gorgeous stuff! The nursery will be beautiful.

    The mother in me can't help but say: be careful with vintage cribs. Many are unsafe (e.g. wingnuts which stick out can be a strangulation hazard if the baby's clothes get stuck on them, the spaces between bars can hurt limbs, etc etc). And make sure you sand the crate unless you love digging out splinters! Sorry. Can't help myself.

    great ideas. If you are planning on having his crib in with you guys in the beginning, a little tip is to have one with an open side up against your own bed. Makes life so much easier and it is extremely cosy having your little guy next to you. Im very lucky in that my husband was able to build one exactly the measurements and height we needed, wasn't too hard if you are a little handy. Good luck

    i love the idea of the hangar and the fabric. you mentioned fairy lights, which reminded me of this light fixture i photographed, created by bending rope lights into a chandelier shape.

    what a beautiful collection of pictures. i love how serene they look. i recently bought the ikea gulliver crib and just put it together - it's quite sturdy and the design is simple.

    hi emma, the above link actually is an etsy artist who makes coat hangers in the shape of any name. check it out! then you could hang your material from a hanger that says whatever you like...melanie

What do you think about making paper airplanes with maps or something colorful, and then stringing them up for a mobile over the crib? Just an idea. Congratulations on your new baby! I love the name Elvis. My husband and I just read Isabel Allende's "Zorro" and are on a Zorro kick, so we are trying to work Zorro into the name of future babies...

    I LOVE that poster, and it seems a great theme to put a room together around. Love the curtain-idea, material is a good choice to as it refers to the flaglines on the poster. A coloured flagline/garland, maybe over the crib? Oh, and owls. Love owls. Maybe a woodland scene with an owl on the wardrobe. I especially love the owls on the Iittala Taika porcelain, maybe you could use those as inspiration?

    I'm sure your son's room will turn out lovely!
